FC Bayern Munich Shuffles Management Team
Germany's soccer titan, FC Bayern Munich, is undergoing management changes. The club's Chief Marketing Officer, Andreas Jung (61), informed the Supervisory Board at a meeting on Monday, that he won't be extending his contract, which ends in the summer. The club plans to settle on his replacement's duties from July 1, 2024, at an appropriate time.
Speculation surrounding the appointment of Max Eberl has no connection to this personnel shift. Prior to the club's statement, "Bild" and "Münchner Merkur/tz" tabloids reported the news of Jung's decision.
President Herbert Hainer expressed his gratitude to Jung on Tuesday. "From the heart, I thank Andreas Jung for his dedicated service to FC Bayern since 1996. He has played an instrumental role in positioning the club as Europe's marketing leader," Hainer stated.
A sports science graduate and sports manager, Jung came to FC Bayern from the German Cycling Federation in 1996, first as Head of Department, then as Director of Sponsoring and Events. He was appointed Deputy Board Member in 2010 and Board Member for Marketing in 2012. The Golf World Open winner expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming eight months, declaring, "We are FC Bayern; we have ambitious plans."
As for Eberl, his future role within FC Bayern remains uncertain. The 50-year-old was Leipzig's preferred candidate by honorary president Uli Hoeneß, but the RB bosses parted ways with Eberl just before the showdown against FC Bayern in late September, citing Eberl's questioned commitment to Leipzig. Hoeneß swiftly acknowledged that Bayern had no influence on Leipzig's release of Eberl.
While FC Bayern Munich prepares for management changes in their marketing department, there is currently no information available to reveal who takes over from Jung or when the transition takes place. The club is yet to release an official statement regarding this.
