Chanel and Cinema Paradiso Illuminate the Louvre
In a celebration of art, culture, and cinema, Chanel is set to return to the world of film with its involvement in the Cinema Paradiso festival at the iconic Louvre museum. Elsa Heizmann, Chanel's global head of fashion, has expressed that this collaboration aligns with the house's belief in cinema as an experience of wonder and sharing.
This year marks the fifth edition of the festival, a continuation of Chanel's long-standing tradition of supporting artistic and cultural events. The four-day event, running from July 2 to July 5, 2025, promises a unique blend of cinema, music, and gastronomy, creating a rich cultural experience for all.
The programming of the festival features outdoor screenings of iconic films, such as Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides, Wong Kar-wai's In the Mood for Love, and David Lynch's Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Notable figures like Coppola, Mendonça Filho, and actors Wagner Moura will be present to introduce selected films, including the public premiere of The Secret Agent.
In line with its commitment to inclusivity, the festival offers free entry with limited tickets available on a first-come basis, starting at 15:30 each day. This approach aims to make the experience accessible to a broader audience, fostering a sense of community and shared cultural appreciation among attendees.
Chanel's involvement in Cinema Paradiso underscores its ongoing commitment to the film industry and the connection between fashion and cinema. Coppola's relationship with Chanel extends beyond the festival, with her directing the teaser for the brand's most recent Cruise collection and creating the wedding dress worn by Cailee Spaeny in Coppola's film Priscilla.
The historic Cour Carréé of the Louvre will transform into a communal space for film enthusiasts to gather and experience cinema in a way that echoes the museum's exhibition on fashion and art. Cinema Paradiso at the Louvre offers a unique setting for film enthusiasts to immerse themselves in a world of wonder and shared experiences, reinforcing Chanel's belief in the power of cinema as a medium for connection and inspiration.
At the Cinema Paradiso festival, Chanel's support for entertainment expands beyond fashion, encompassing a blend of films, music, and gastronomy, mirroring a lifestyle that embraces cultural diversity. The ongoing collaboration between Chanel and Sofia Coppola, who has directed films for the brand and the festival, symbolizes the connection between fashion-and-beauty and movies-and-tv.
