Chance Perdomo features in Gen V's second season, and the Boys spin-off series pays homage in an innovative manner.
In the second season of Gen V, the character of Andre Anderson, played by the late Chance Perdomo, takes centre stage despite his untimely death.
Andre, the son of the famous supe Polarity, shares his father's powers of magnetism and electromagnetism manipulation. In the season opener, we learn that Marie, one of Andre's closest friends, was not aware of his condition. However, several things come to light in season 2.
In episode 1, Cate Dunlap attempts to read Andre's mind but is met with shouting, tears, and a voice saying, "We need to go back!" This tragic event sets the tone for the season as it becomes clear that Andre has passed away.
Andre's death is a pivotal moment in the series, marked by a key fight scene leading to his demise. His friend, Marie, isn't with the group in episode 1 as she had escaped and never looked back, inspired by Andre's plan to leave Elmira through a metal maintenance pipe. However, someone had covered up the pipe's opening with brick before Andre could escape, forcing him to try opening a metal door instead.
Despite his death, Andre continues to be a central character in Gen V season 2, incorporated posthumously. The show pays tribute to Chance Perdomo throughout the season in a way we don't often see.
Andre's powers were not strong enough to open the door, and he suffered a stroke as a result. This condition, neuro-micro tears, is the same one that Polarity and Andre shared. Polarity, upon learning of his son's death, expresses his distress: "I always told Andre he was made of steel, but he was flesh and blood, my flesh and blood."
In episode 2, Cipher informs an unaware Marie about Andre's shared condition with Polarity. In episode 3, Jordan announces Andre's death to the entire campus. Polarity, in response, asks Emma to leave Vought and distance herself.
The Gen V season 2 finale is expected to feature more of Andre, providing closure to his storyline and offering a poignant tribute to the character and the actor who brought him to life. Andre's death in Gen V season 2 is enough to reduce Cate to tears, underscoring the impact his character had on the series.
