Champs of the "New Year's Whimsical Ice Sculpture" Contest Revealed

YAKUTIA.INFO. The sixth annual ice sculpture competition "New Year's Fantasy" has wrapped up on the Lower Bestakh station square. Hosted by JSC "Yakutia Railways" and the Megino-Kangalassky District, this year's event celebrated the start of Baikal-Amur Mainline construction's 50th anniversary, Family Year in Russia, and Child Year in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

Ten teams, consisting of two participants each from five districts, showcased their skills. Each crew had four days to sculpt their breathtaking creations around the theme "Hear the time hum - BAM."

A panel of esteemed judges - professional sculptors, artists, masters of ice art such as Nikolai Chochchashov, Egor Stepanov, Egor Ogonerov, Nikolai Ptitsyn from L.A. Kim Children's Art School, and Alexei Mostnikov, JSC's deputy general director for strategic development - judged the pieces.

Team Argunov from Namsky District proved victorious with their captivating "A Lifetime Journey." They received the first prize, while the second and third positions went to teams from Matta and "Ménébil," respectively.

Special prizes honored distinct compositions like "Pioneers," "BAM Construction," and the general director's recognition was awarded to the "Booturdar" team.

All participants received diplomas and thoughtful gifts from JSC "Yakutia Railways."

Alexei Mostnikov, JSC's deputy general director for strategic development, addressed the competitors, praising their abilities and beautiful sculptures that encapsulated the spirit of the BAM heroes. He praised the competition as a significant national event, especially for Yakutians, highlighting its importance in honoring labor heroism and constructing key constructions.

The triumphant winners, Vasily Argunov, shared his excitement over their victory in the competitive field, noting the skilled competition and expressing appreciation for sponsors like JSC "Yakutia Railways." The ice sculptures will continue to beautify the Lower Bestyakh station square for all to marvel at until spring!
