Champions League victory for PSG in their initial match versus Pelister Bitola

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured their first triumph in the UEFA Champions League last Thursday, defeating Pelister Bitola 33-27 at home. Despite the victory, the French club remains in third place in Group B, two points behind co-leaders Plock and Magdeburg.

PSG's performance in the match was a mixed bag, with the team struggling both on and off the pitch. The Parisians suffered two heavy defeats earlier this season, one in Magdeburg and another in the Champions Trophy against Montpellier, symbolising their current form.

In the match against Pelister Bitola, PSG started strongly, leading 16-11 by the 24th minute. However, the team lost its way, allowing Pelister to catch up at halftime (16-16) and push its advantage, even securing a +4 ball advantage in the 40th minute (19-22).

However, Elohim Prandi and his teammates rallied in the second half, with Prandi scoring 11 goals to help secure the victory. PSG did not concede any goals after the 56th minute, with Prandi and his defence contributing to a strong defensive display.

Stanis Soullier, the 21-year-old academy goalkeeper, made several remarkable saves for PSG, including a notable reflex save on a long-range shot from Nikola Mitrevski, the Macedonian goalkeeper who made 10 saves for Pelister Bitola. Gianluigi Donnarumma, the third goalkeeper of PSG, also made an important contribution in the last minute to the club's first UEFA Champions League victory.

Stefan Madsen, the Paris-SG coach, admitted responsibility for the team's performance, stating that many rotations destroyed their rhythm. Luka Karabatic and Mathieu Grebille are likely to be out for another ten days due to injuries, further complicating PSG's efforts to find consistency.

While the victory was a positive step for PSG, it is important to note that the team is not yet at its full potential. The French club currently sits in third place in Group B, with a record of one win, two losses, and one draw. The co-leaders, Plock and Magdeburg, have two wins and one draw each.

Despite the challenges, PSG can take heart from their first UEFA Champions League victory of the season and use it as a platform to build upon in the coming weeks. The next match for PSG is against Magdeburg, a crucial encounter that will test the team's mettle and determination to climb the Group B standings.
