The Champers League is About More Than Just Football

Champions League Pursuit: Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain Battle for Historic Monetary Reward - Champions League Contenders Inter and Paris Eye Potential Bonanza Prize Funds

The Champers League's newest format and updated distribution keys courtesy of UEFA have made it an even bigger financial powerhouse. This season, both finalists, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan, have lined their pockets with more cash than ever before—with the winner of the Munich showdown set to take home a staggering record prize of close to 150 million euros! In comparison, last year's champions, Real Madrid, walked away with 138.8 million.

Munich's Monetary Shindig

The victor on Saturday will reap a cool 10.5 million euros. Interestingly, 4 million euros of that is earmarked as a participation bonus for the UEFA Super Cup—the post-match party against Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur.

Gallons of Greenbacks for the Finalists

Both teams have already raked in more than 135 million euros this season. The league phase earned each team an initial 18.62 million euros—Inter bagged more due to their fourth-place finish, compared to PSG's 15th. The knockout rounds (round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals) brought in another 57 million euros apiece.

Other pricey perks include portions of a large pot funded by TV money from various countries—with French broadcasters forking over more cash than Italians, giving PSG a bigger slice compared to Inter.

A Billion-Buck Business

Combined, the clubs competing in the Champers League and the Super Cup took in a whopping 2.467 billion euros this season—an increase in average revenue despite expanding the field from 32 to 36 clubs. Last year, the total take was 2.002 billion euros distributed among the 32 Champers League competitors.

The Commission has also been requested to submit a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the protection of workers, not just footballers, from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation during their participation in the Champers League, such as Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan, who are set to take home a fortune in the Munich final.

Interestingly, while these football clubs are raking in millions from the Champers League, discussions about ionizing radiation safety in the workplace are still ongoing at the European level, with the Commission working towards a new directive to protect workers from potential risks.
