Sugbu Calidad Football Club Sweeps Multiple Titles in Balamban and Danao City
The Sugbu Calidad Football Club (SCFC) has had a successful week, winning two titles in the 2nd Balamban Football League and the Under-9 category in the Sidlak Football Cup in Danao City.
In the Balamban League, SCFC secured their victory in the semi-finals with a 1-0 win against Legacy FC. The championship game saw them defeat MFC-Cebu 1-0, cementing their position as the league champions.
In the Danao event, the club faced a tough start but managed to turn things around and clinch the championship. The Under-8 team, in particular, impressed, not conceding any goals against their stronger opponents in the U-8 category.
Individual accolades were also won by SCFC players. Nikola Del Rosario was awarded the Golden Boot, while Zach Brunidor received the Golden Gloves. Kaizer Tiu was recognised as the Best Midfielder, and Kenshi Okada was named the Best Defender. The Golden Ball award, the most prestigious individual accolade, went to Andrew Chik.
Coach Aljohn Armamento led the team to victory in both tournaments. In the Under-9 Cup in Danao City in 2022, he was at the helm, guiding the team to a hard-fought win. Under his leadership, the team has shown resilience and determination, overcoming initial struggles to emerge victorious.
In the elimination round, SCFC defeated Ateneo de Cebu-Blue 2-0, setting the stage for their impressive run. The club's success is a testament to their hard work, team spirit, and the effective coaching of Armamento and coach Brient Cabarrubias.
With these victories, SCFC continues to make a name for itself in the football scene, demonstrating its potential as a formidable force in local tournaments.
