Chamber Orchestra's Concerto Performance Marks Anniversary with Musical Variety

The historic St. Ulrich Church in Hünfeld was filled with music last night as the Kammerorchester von Hünfeld celebrated four decades of existence. The concert, well-attended by music lovers, opened with the overture from Georg Friedrich Handel's opera "Alexander".

Thomas Nüdling, the director of the chamber orchestra, led the musicians through a varied journey through several centuries of music history. The first half of the program showcased the baroque sounds from Handel's opera, brought to life with vigor and contrast. Teresa Richter, a talented piccolo flute player, masterfully performed the "Concertino for Piccolo and Strings" by Allan Stephenson.

Edward Elgar's "Salut d'Amour" was performed with softer tones, creating a romantic atmosphere. The orchestra also presented further excerpts from Handel's oratorio "Theodora" in the baroque style, demonstrating their commitment to preserving the rich musical heritage of the past.

The second half of the program featured a contrasting mix of lively rhythms and popular melodies. "El Choclo", "Moon River" (Henry Mancini), and an orchestral version of Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" were among the highlights, providing a modern twist to the concert.

The audience thanked the chamber orchestra for an evening full of musical diversity with long-lasting applause. As an encore, "Moon River" was played again, leaving the audience with a beautiful and memorable ending.

After the concert, the musicians invited the audience to a champagne reception on the church square. The future of the chamber orchestra was anticipated at the reception, with the second chairwoman, Luisa Wiegand, giving a warm welcome speech and presenting the orchestra's work.

The founding decade of the Kammerorchester von Hünfeld was the 1980s, and it's clear that the orchestra continues to thrive and evolve, providing Hünfeld and its visitors with a rich musical experience.
