Chain-collision victim at Neumalsch hospitalized critically

On Thursday evening, a serious traffic accident occurred on Durmersheimer Straße, a country road located between Neumalsch and Durmersheim in the Rastatt district. The incident involved a 29-year-old man driving a fire-orange BMW M3 E92 GTS.

According to police reports, the man was attempting to overtake two vehicles when he grazed one of the other cars during the maneuver. In an attempt to regain control, the man lost traction and veered off the road, colliding with two trees.

The man was initially treated while still seated in his vehicle by rescue services before being extricated. He was then taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The police report confirmed that his injuries were indeed severe.

The accident caused significant damage, with estimates putting the cost in the tens of thousands of euros. The country road was closed for several hours due to the accident and the subsequent clean-up operation.

The other driver involved in the overtaking was also attempting to overtake at the same time and had pulled out. Fortunately, they were able to avoid a more serious collision.

The police have reported the details of the accident on their website in response to an inquiry. They also suggested that the man may have been traveling at an excessive speed, which could have contributed to the accident.

Our thoughts are with the injured man and his family during this difficult time. We hope for his speedy recovery.

This incident serves as a reminder to all drivers to always adhere to speed limits and to exercise caution when overtaking. Let's all do our part to ensure the roads remain safe for everyone.
