CESAFI shows a positive tendency in its performance
Atty. Augusto W. Go, owner of the University of Cebu (UC), has been elected as the new President of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) for the 2025-2026 term. The news was shared during the induction and oath taking ceremony for the new CESAFI leaders on May 29, 2025, at Citadines Hotel, Baseline Center, Cebu City.
Outgoing CESAFI President Atty. Paulino A. Yabao, from the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), congratulated Go during his speech at the event, stating, "Cebu is not just in good hands but in the best hands."
Go acknowledged Yabao's work during his tenure, particularly in organizing the largest school-based competition in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. Yabao reciprocated with a message, "You did a good job, I will just follow your footsteps."
The term of office for Go begins this year and will last for the next 25 years, marking CESAFI's 25 Years of Excellence: Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future. The Cebu Coliseum, the primary venue for the anticipated basketball events in CESAFI, is eagerly awaiting Go's leadership.
Renovations at the Cebu Coliseum are ongoing, and Go confirmed that the renovations are not yet complete. The opening ceremony for the 2025-26 season will take place on September 13. Go expressed his expectation for a cooler CESAFI season, stating, "We're expecting a cooler CESAFI 2025-26 season. Let the games begin."
In addition to Go, other newly elected officials for the 2025-2026 term include Fr. Francisco Antonio Estepha, SVD from the University of San Carlos (vice president), Dr. Dino Diez from Velez College (treasurer), and Fr. Randy Figaracion, SBD from Don Bosco Technical College (secretary).
The induction and oath taking ceremony were overseen by Judge Vincent Deo Albeos.
