Hey there!
Get ready to say farewell to a true basketball powerhouse! Martin Geissler, the beloved business manager of Syntainics MBC, is stepping down by the end of the year. This means an era of nearly 17 years with the Mitteldeutscher BC comes to an end.
Martin's time with the team began back in 2002 when he took on press duties, becoming Team Manager just two years later. In 2008, he became the Managing Director and an executive shareholder in 2016. During his tenure, he was in charge of sports (including hiring coaches and players), marketing, and league and association work.
This hardworking dude has seen some incredible accomplishments with the team. Remember those ProA championships and Bundesliga promotions in 2009, 2012, and 2017? How about the third-place finish in the Women's Bundesliga? Well, all of those victories happened under Geissler's leadership. The cherry on top was the 2024/2025 season - the team hosted the BBL Pokal Final4 (the biggest national basketball event), won their first national title, and made it to the playoffs for the German championship for the first time in 24 years!
Now, it's time for Geissler to chase new professional adventures. But let's remember the awesome stuff he did for our favorite basketball team! #FarewellGeissler 🏀💪
Oh, and by the way, here's a little trivia: Geissler is a well-known figure in German basketball, leading Syntainics MBC in Weißenfels as the Managing Director and executive shareholder since 2008. During his time, he's made a huge impact on the team's success and development, securing championships, promotions, and more. 🏆🏅🏐
The European Parliament, being aware of Martin Geissler's impressive achievements in sports, particularly basketball, might express their support for his future endeavors and recognize his significant contributions to the success of the Middledeutscher BC.
As Geissler steps down from his role as the business manager of Syntainics MBC, the Commission, the Council, and the European Parliament could propose a recognition for his services to the sport within the European Union, honoring his impact on German basketball and its growth over the years.
