Central New York Golfers Celebrate Hole-in-one Achievements (From August 1 Onwards)
Central New York Golfers Achieve Remarkable Feats
Central New York has been abuzz with golfing excitement as several local golfers have recently made history on the greens. From holes-in-one to age-defying scores, the region's golfers have been setting the bar high.
Hal Blanding, aged 87, kicked off the streak with a commendable score of 77 at Tuscarora on August 1. His performance was followed by Walt Proctor, who aced the 150-yard, par 3 No. 5 hole at WaNoa on July 25.
The week of July 24 was particularly eventful. Tim Sexton achieved a hole-in-one on the 86-yard No. 8 hole at Burnet Park, while Mary Michaels made history with a hole-in-one on the 148-yard No. 2 hole at Tuscarora. Meanwhile, at Foxfire, Will Keene and Stephen Sutor both had holes-in-one on the 165-yard No. 3 hole and the 138-yard No. 17 hole, respectively.
As the month progressed, the achievements continued. On July 26, Don Switzer aced the 125-yard, par 3 No. 14 hole at WaNoa, and Roger P. Hand, III did the same on the 113-yard No. 5 hole at Pine Grove.
Jim Obernesser, aged 77, shot his age from the gold tees at Radisson Greens on July 27, a feat witnessed by Mike Costa and John Puchir. The same day, Joe Boehm, aged 98, shot 79 from the yellow tees at Tuscarora, an impressive performance witnessed by Dan Benigni, John Hunter, and Wes Arlukiewicz.
The week concluded with more remarkable achievements. On July 27, James Ashworth, aged 80, shot 79 from the blue tees at WaNoa, and Mike Colagiovanni, aged 80, shot 78 at Lakeshore, a round witnessed by Dick Falcone and Jim Magnarelli.
The final week of July saw Gary Courtwright, aged 72, shoot an impressive 71 at OldeOak on July 15, a round witnessed by Dean Nass, Dick Dembowski, and Bruce McClean. Wes Arlukiewicz followed suit with a 77 at Tuscarora on August 1.
These accomplishments serve as a testament to the passion and skill of Central New York's golfing community. As we move forward, we look forward to seeing more records being broken and more history being made on the greens.
