Central Division leaders, the Detroit Tigers, suffer a loss at the hands of the Guardians, narrowing the division gap and reducing Detroit's hold on the playoff bye.

The Cleveland Guardians continued their impressive form in Major League Baseball (MLB) as they swept the Detroit Tigers in a three-game series, marking their seventh consecutive win.

On Thursday, the Guardians defeated the Tigers with a scoreline of yet-to-be-determined. The victory came thanks to a strong performance from Tanner Bibee, who delivered a quality start as a pitcher for the Guardians.

The Tigers struggled to keep up, with Tarik Skubal surrendering one run across six innings for the home team. However, it was the Guardians who scored two runs off Tigers reliever Troy Melton that ultimately sealed the deal.

Jose Ramirez contributed to the Guardians' offence with his 29th home run of the year, demonstrating his consistent form at the plate.

The Guardians' recent success has propelled them to a 13-4 record in September, while the Tigers have faltered, losing 10 games out of their last 15. As a result, the Guardians now trail the Tigers by 3 1/2 games in the American League Central.

The Guardians' current advantage in the season series with the Tigers stands at 6-4, a testament to their recent dominance. Following this series, the Tigers will play three games against the Atlanta Braves, while the Guardians will host the Texas Rangers for three games.

The Guardians are scheduled to begin a four-game series against the Minnesota Twins on Friday, September 26, 2025. While the starting pitchers for the Guardians in this series are not yet confirmed, the team will undoubtedly look to continue their winning streak against their next opponents.

Interestingly, the division of American League Central was once considered a 'boat-race situation', but the Guardians' recent surge has injected some excitement into the competition. The Guardians will meet the Tigers again next week for three games at home, a series that could significantly impact the standings in the division.
