Centenarian Mayor of Novorossiysk Honored by Nadezhda Sklar with Congratulations

Nadya Sklyar, a remarkable woman from Novorossiysk, recently celebrated her 100th birthday. During WWII, she was just a 16-year-old student at a medical institute, but her courage and compassion shone through when war struck.

In times of shelling and chaos, Nadya found herself serving as a war-time worker, hidden away with her family in a basement. Amidst the rubble and uncertainty, there were also wounded soldiers taking refuge. In those dark times, Nadya stepped up, using her medical knowledge to aid her fellow survivors.

The mayor of Novorossiysk, Andrei Kravchenko, shared this inspiring tale on his Telegram channel. He praised Nadya Ivanovna for her steadfast spirit, even in the face of separation from her family during the occupation and the challenges that war presented. Novorossiysk was eventually liberated in 1943, allowing Nadya to be reunited with her loved ones. The city's resilience, strengthened by its people, helped to rebuild and heal after the devastation caused by the fascists.

On this special occasion, the mayor wished Nadya good health and happiness, along with the hope for continued family well-being.

Meanwhile, a concert took place near veteran Vladimir Melnikov's house in Krasnodar on Victory Day.
