Actors Confirm Their Separation in New Announcement - Celebrity couple splits up publicly
In a surprising turn of events, Italian screen icon Monica Bellucci and renowned director Tim Burton have announced their split. The news was confirmed through a joint statement to the Associated Press (AFP) on Friday.
The couple, who have been together since the summer of 2023, first sparked rumours of a romance at the Festival Lumière 2022 in Lyon when Monica Bellucci presented Tim Burton with an award. Their relationship was later confirmed by Bellucci herself to French magazine "Elle" in 2023.
Burton, known for his unique style and films like "Edward Scissorhands" and "Sleepy Hollow", was previously married to German painter Lena Gieseke from 1987 to 1991. Before her relationship with Burton, Bellucci was married to French actor Vincent Cassel until 2013, with whom she has two daughters.
The couple made their first joint appearance on the red carpet at the Rome Film Festival 2023. Bellucci, who is 60, and Burton, who is 67, also have children from their previous relationships. Bellucci separated from Cassel in August 2013 and has two daughters, Deva (21) and Léonie (15). Burton also has two children, a son Billy (21) and a daughter Nell (17), from his relationship with British actress Helena Bonham Carter.
Photographs of the couple arm in arm in Madrid by paparazzi shortly after their relationship started had hinted at their growing bond. However, the reason for their split remains undisclosed.
Despite the split, both Bellucci and Burton have had successful careers. Bellucci, who started her career in the late 1980s, has become an icon in the Italian film industry, while Burton's distinctive style and films have left an indelible mark on Hollywood.
