Next Reality Show for Lilly Becker - Celebrities Face Survival and Culture in the Amazon’s Shanenawa Trial

Eight celebrities, including Lilly Becker, are set to participate in 'Surviving the Amazon: The Shanenawa Trial' on Joyn. They will spend ten days immersing themselves in the life of the Shanenawa, an indigenous group of around 770 people living in Brazil's Acre state, primarily along the Rio Envira. The Shanenawa, known as 'People of the Blue Bird', cultivate crops and gather forest fruits while facing threats to their land and culture.

The Shanenawa, who live in close harmony with nature, practice traditional agriculture, growing crops like cassava, bananas, corn, and peanuts, and gather forest fruits such as açaí. Their culture is rich with rituals, including dances, body painting, and songs, and while they have their own language, many younger members mainly speak Portuguese. Despite adopting technology like drones and GPS to combat deforestation, they face persistent threats from illegal logging, land encroachment, and cultural erosion.

During their time with the Shanenawa, the celebrities will adhere to their customs, including physical and mental challenges and a traditional healing ritual. Those deemed 'worthy' by the tribe will receive a sacred ceremony and be symbolically adopted into the Shanenawa community. The celebrities will gain insight into the Shanenawa's way of life, which is deeply rooted in their rainforest home, now threatened by deforestation in the Terra Indígena Katukina/Kaxinawá in Feijó Municipality.

The 'Surviving the Amazon: The Shanenawa Trial' offers a unique opportunity for celebrities to experience the Shanenawa's way of life, while also raising awareness about the threats they face. The ten-day immersion will test the celebrities' resilience and understanding, with the potential for symbolic adoption into the Shanenawa community as a reward for their participation and respect for the tribe's culture.
