Celebratory crowd in Liverpool hit by vehicle accident, causing numerous injuries.

In the heart of Liverpool, celebrations of FC Liverpool's championship title took an unexpected turn when a car crashed into a crowd during a street parade. According to police reports, several pedestrians were injured in the incident.

The driver, a 53-year-old local man, was promptly arrested by the police on the scene. The North West Ambulance Service is currently assessing the situation, providing medical aid to the injured, and working with other emergency services. A rescue helicopter was dispatched.

While the specific circumstances of the incident are still under investigation, there is no indication that it was a deliberate act of terrorism. Although counter-terrorism police are involved in the investigation, Merseyside Police is treating the incident as a road traffic collision, with the driver believed to have acted alone.

Witnesses reported hearing screams and described the chaotic scene, with the car appearing to deliberately steer towards the people. Videos shared online show the vehicle driving into the crowd and ignoring clear road signs. However, authorities have asked the public not to speculate or share disturbing footage.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his concern and offered support to the authorities. FC Liverpool also extended their sympathies to those affected, committing to assist in the investigation.

The incident overshadowed the otherwise joyous city-wide celebration, as up to a million fans had gathered to mark the Reds' victory in the Premier League. Led by manager Jürgen Klopp, the team had secured the title in late April andparaded through the city in an open bus, delighting fans along a 16-kilometer route.

Footage of the incident can be found online, but the public is urged to submit any relevant video material or information directly to the police. All citizens are reminded to allow the authorities ample space to conduct their investigations.
