Celebrating a Century of Valor: Werne's Langern Firefighting Group Marks its 105th Anniversary
The small town of Werne is gearing up for a grand celebration as its Langern Firefighting Group prepares to mark its 105th anniversary on June 27th and 28th. This is the first major celebration since the group marked its 95th anniversary ten years ago.
The festivities will take place around the equipment house on Osticker Berg, with a variety of activities planned for both days. On Friday, June 27th, a grill evening for the village is being held, initiated by the firefighters from Werne's western region, starting at 6 PM. DJ Andreas Büscher will provide musical entertainment for the subsequent party.
Saturday is packed with events. The day kicks off with games organized by the youth firefighters, introducing the next generation to the volunteer work of the fire department. A drink stand and a food truck will be available for refreshments. At 4 PM, a competition for a traveling trophy will take place, with groups from all units of Werne's Fire Department participating.
The highlight of the day is the awards ceremony at 7:30 PM in the festival tent in front of the equipment house. The winner of the competition will be announced during this event, with Mayor Lothar Christ in attendance. All units of Werne's Fire Department, as well as friendly units from Wethmar, Cappenberg, and Südkirchen, are invited to the ceremony.
On Saturday, the fire department will also offer coffee and homemade cake. For the little ones, a bouncy castle has been arranged. The celebrations are set to conclude with the event being dedicated to the fire department starting at 2:30 PM on Saturday, June 28th.
