## Iconic Singer Connie Francis Passes Away at 87

Connie Francis, a legendary pop star from the 1950s and 1960s, has tragically passed away at the age of 87. The news was announced by her publicist, Ron Roberts, on Thursday.

Francis gained fame with hits such as "Everybody's Somebody's Fool" and "Where the Boys Are," and she was one of the most popular artists of the pre-Beatles era. She achieved a remarkable milestone in 1960 when she became the first female solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart with "Everybody's Somebody's Fool."

In her career, Francis had over a dozen top 20 hits, including "Who's Sorry Now?", "Don't Break the Heart That Loves You", and "The Heart Has a Mind of Its Own," which reached number one. Her music resonated with audiences, earning her a place in the hearts of many.

Recently, Francis resurfaced on the TikTok platform, with her song "Pretty Little Baby" re-released as a single six decades after its original release. The song reached number 13 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart on May 31.

However, Francis' health had been declining in recent years. She was initially admitted to the intensive care unit on July 2 due to extreme hip pain. Despite being transferred to a private room, the details of her subsequent treatment and discharge are unclear.

Less than a month before her death, Francis was hospitalized for "extreme pain" following a fracture in her pelvic area. She had been living with chronic pain, specifically a "troublesome painful hip," and used a wheelchair. Although the exact cause of her death has not been revealed, her health challenges suggest that complications from her hip injury and associated pain may have contributed to her passing.

The location of Francis' passing has not been disclosed, but she had been living in relative seclusion in Essex Fells, New Jersey, following a traumatic incident in 1974. Despite her personal struggles, Francis remained a beloved figure in music history, remembered for her pioneering achievements and enduring contributions to American pop music.
