Celebrate multiculturalism: Intercultural week fosters unity in Greifswald
Greifswald, Germany - The city is gearing up for an exciting Intercultural Week, taking place from September 19 to October 20, 2025. This year's event, lovingly organised by the Network Migration Greifswald and numerous cooperation partners, promises to be a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity and Georgian culture.
The festive opening will take place on September 19 at 3:30 PM at the IGS Erwin Fischer. The St. Jacobi Church will host the intercultural opening service during the week, while the Open Mosque Day is another highlight.
The focus of this year's Intercultural Week is on Georgian culture, with guests from the dance academy of the Georgian cultural association SakARTvelo Berlin gracing the event. A creative workshop under the motto "Journey into the Georgian Alphabet" will be held, offering participants a unique opportunity to delve into the richness of the Georgian language and culture.
A diverse array of events is scheduled throughout the week. Activities include film screenings, concerts, lectures, sports events, cooking together, and more. The intercultural football tournament is a much-anticipated event, bringing together teams from various backgrounds to compete in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
Two theatre performances by the Jewish community of Rostock will be held during the Intercultural Week, adding another layer of cultural richness to the programme. The events will take place in the districts of Schönwalde I/Südstadt and Schönwalde, ensuring that the city's heart is at the centre of the celebrations.
Over 50 organisations and volunteers have contributed to the organisation of the Intercultural Week, reflecting the diversity and inclusivity of the participants.
