Cebu City Hall staff to receive Christmas bonuses—if approved

Cebu City Hall employees will receive Christmas bonuses this year, Mayor Nestor Archival confirmed. The payouts will cover over 4,000 staff, including regular workers, casual employees, and job order personnel. However, the exact release date remains unannounced.

The bonus scheme was proposed by the mayor’s office but still requires approval from the Cebu City Council. Until the council greenlights the funds, no payments can be made. There is currently no timeline for when this approval might happen.

Regular and casual employees will each receive ₱15,000, while job order (JO) staff are set to get ₱5,000. The mayor acknowledged that City Hall workers, like many residents, faced hardship after Typhoon Tino hit Cebu earlier this year.

In place of a large City Hall Christmas party, department heads have been told to organize small, modest gatherings within their offices. The decision reflects a more restrained approach to year-end celebrations.

The bonus plan aims to support thousands of city employees, from permanent staff to temporary workers. Once approved, the funds will be distributed to over 4,000 personnel. For now, staff await the council’s decision before receiving their payments.
