Heimfeld Campaign Visit: CDU Economic Spokesperson Julia Klöckner Outlines Plans

In a campaign visit to Privathotel Lindtner in Harburg, CDU/CSU parliamentary group's economic spokesperson, Julia Klöckner, gathered CDU candidates for the Hamburg Parliament, André Trepoll, Birgit Stöver, and Klaus-Peter Hesse. Klöckner addressed the guests, promoting the CDU's agendas for a hardworking population.

Klöckner identified the slowing economy as a primary hurdle. She argued against this being solely due to the conflict in Ukraine and Putin, stating that other Western countries were faring much better economically. Moreover, she stressed the grim economic reality faced by Germany, stating, "We are the only country not only not growing, but shrinking. And that will have consequences."

The CDU agenda includes reducing bureaucracy, accelerating approval processes, lowering energy costs, phasing out combustion engines in cars, tax relief, and encouraging depreciation in the housing sector.

During her speech, Klöckner also expressed firm opinions on welfare recipients, acknowledging the importance of social welfare but declaring that those unwilling to work despite their ability should not expect support from others.

When addressing the chancellor candidate's criticisms, she responded to concern over Friedrich Merz's perceived unlikability and lack of popularity among women, saying, "It may be that many prefer Robert [Green Party's candidate]. But what good does that do me if he harms our industry? I don't want to vacation with him or have a barbecue. He should simply govern our country effectively. That's his job."

Other Western countries are faring better economically under their respective policies-and-legislation, contrary to the perception that the slowing economy in Germany is solely due to the conflict in Ukraine and Putin. Julia Klöckner, the CDU/CSU parliamentary group's economic spokesperson, strongly urged for concrete changes in German politics, such as reducing bureaucracy, lowering energy costs, and phasing out combustion engines, in the general-news context of her campaign visit speech.
