CDU Sweeps Rheinisch-Bergisch District Elections, Wins Six Mayoral Races and District Administrator Post
The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) has secured a significant victory in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district. In recent elections, the CDU has won the mayoral races in Burscheid, Leichlingen, Overath, Kürten, Odenthal, and Wermelskirchen. Additionally, the CDU candidate Arne von Boetticher has been elected district administrator with a clear majority.
The CDU's success is not limited to these key positions. The party has also expanded its presence in the district, city, and municipal councils. With a total of 165 seats, the CDU has increased its strength by 10 compared to the outgoing term.
The CDU's victory in the mayoral races was led by Dirk Runge in Burscheid, Maurice Winter in Leichlingen, Michael Eyer in Overath, Mario Bredow in Kürten, Laura Lundberg in Odenthal, and Bernd Hibst in Wermelskirchen. Notably, Arne von Boetticher's win in the runoff election for district administrator with 56.94% of the votes further cemented the CDU's dominance in the region.
The CDU's strong performance in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district indicates a significant shift in local politics.
