Solingen Mayoral Candidate Daniel Flemm Outlines Plans for City's Future

In the upcoming Mayoral Election in Solingen, scheduled for September 2025, Daniel Flemm, the CDU's candidate, has outlined a comprehensive plan to strengthen the city's economic development and improve local infrastructure.

Born in Solingen in 1989 and a member of the CDU since 2007, Flemm has been a city councilor since 2012 and the chairman of the CDU faction in the Solingen city council since 2020. With professional experience as a corporate customer advisor at a bank and as head of finance in a start-up, Flemm is well-equipped to tackle the challenges facing Solingen.

Flemm's platform focuses on six key issues: safety, internal security, disaster protection, healthcare, job preservation and promotion, education, and traffic infrastructure. He aims to make Solingen a little better every day and wants the citizens to be proud of their city.

In terms of economic development, Flemm plans to initiate structural economic planning for the economic location of Solingen, review "dual structures" in the administration, particularly with regard to the Solingen City Development Company (SEG) and the Economic Development of Solingen. He also intends to promote a vibrant city society through targeted support in the areas of integration, club work, and volunteering.

To improve traffic infrastructure, Flemm wants to optimize public transportation and manage commuter traffic better. The CDU aims to create 250 new spots in the first step, addressing the approximately 500 spots missing in the OGS area. Flexible spot models will be introduced in the OGS area to support families in Solingen.

Flemm has also promised an immediate cost reduction for personal marketing, bloated staff positions, and expensive studies. The freed-up funds will not be cut but targeted for use elsewhere to alleviate the most pressing problems in the city. The city should provide additional personnel assistance to accommodate these adjustments in the OGS area.

Sebastian Haug, chairman of the CDU in Solingen, stated that Solingen needs a political fresh start. Flemm's new cluster-oriented concept for the North and South City, with a particular focus on inner security and quality of stay, reflects this sentiment.

The CDU has identified six key issues that need to be addressed: safety, internal security, disaster protection, healthcare, job preservation and promotion, education, and traffic infrastructure. By prioritizing the expansion of spots in the Open Extended Day (OGS) and in kindergartens after the municipal election, Flemm demonstrates his commitment to addressing these issues head-on.

As the first candidate for the mayoral election, Flemm's clear and focused platform offers a vision for Solingen's future that prioritizes economic development, infrastructure improvement, and social issues. With his extensive experience and dedication to the city, Flemm aims to make Solingen a city that its citizens can be proud of.
