New CDU Parliamentary Business Manager in Saxony-Anhalt Takes Office
Andreas Schumann, a music educator and orchestra musician, has been appointed as the new Parliamentary Business Manager of the CDU faction in the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament. He succeeds Markus Kurze, who resigned in June 2025 amid allegations of sexual harassment during a parliamentary summer event.
Schumann, a member of the Saxony-Anhalt Landtag since 2016, won the position in a close internal election against his colleague Stefan Ruland. With 17 out of 33 valid votes, he was elected during the faction's retreat in Stolberg.
Guido Heuer, the chairman of the CDU faction in the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament, heartily congratulated Schumann on his election. Heuer is joined by Sandra Hietel-Heuer, who remains as the deputy Parliamentary Business Manager, and Sven Schulze, the CDU state chairman of Saxony-Anhalt and Minister of Economics, in supporting Schumann in his new role.
As Parliamentary Business Manager, Schumann is responsible for organizing and coordinating the faction's parliamentary work. This includes close collaboration with the faction chairman and regular coordination with representatives from other parliamentary groups to ensure smooth legislative processes.
Schumann aims to continue the good cooperation within the coalition, with Hietel-Heuer serving as his deputy. The CDU faction in the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament can now fully dedicate itself to the parliamentary tasks ahead with its executive board in place.
