CDU Leader set to confer with Caroline Bosbach in private meeting

In the latest development, the CDU Rhinisch-Bergischer Kreis has postponed a scheduled board meeting to discuss the allegations against CDU Bundestag member Caroline Bosbach. The postponement was announced just before the originally scheduled meeting on Saturday, August 8, 2025.

The executive board, led by Hermann-Josef Tebroke, decided to hold a personal meeting with Bosbach instead. The purpose of the conversation is to discuss the open questions personally and determine the further procedure. The date and location of this meeting are yet to be disclosed.

The allegations against Bosbach involve accusations of vote buying and cash payments related to her role in the CDU's Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsunion (MIT) election in 2023. The CDU Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis executive board had initially set a Friday deadline for Bosbach to clarify the open questions, but the meeting was postponed indefinitely.

Bosbach has denied all the accusations publicly, stating that she did not enrich herself and that no damage was caused to the CDU Rhein-Berg. She supports handing over all relevant documents to the public prosecutor in Cologne for an independent review.

The entire board, which is significantly larger with approximately 40 people, was informed about the postponement. The executive board consists of eight members, including Bosbach, who is an advisory member of the board of directors due to her position as a CDU Bundestag member.

The allegations revolve around claims that Bosbach promised payments of 90 to 100 euros and free hospitality to secure votes for her election to the MIT leadership team. Bosbach had been represented by a lawyer in two previous meetings, but she spoke out for the first time via video on Instagram and Facebook, as well as with a letter to the CDU, but did not answer any of the open questions.

The executive board will inform the entire board of directors, members, and the public at an appropriate time about the outcome of the conversation. The latest updates on the allegations against Caroline Bosbach involve these claims of vote buying and cash payments.

This situation is ongoing, with no final resolution announced yet. The gossip magazine "Bunte" reported that Caroline Bosbach had to pay a high tax payment, which was allegedly paid by her father Wolfgang Bosbach. The allegations against Caroline Bosbach were first published nearly two weeks ago.
