CDU in Solingen selects Daniel Flemm as mayoral candidate
In the upcoming mayoral election in Solingen, Daniel Flemm, the chairman of the CDU faction in the city council, has announced his candidacy. Born in Solingen in 1989 and a member of the CDU since 2007, Flemm has served as a city councillor since 2012 and as the chairman of the CDU faction since 2020.
Flemm, a graduate in business administration, law, and politics, has extensive work experience in the corporate sector, serving as a customer advisor at a bank and as head of finance in a start-up. If elected, his goal is to make Solingen a little better every day, making its citizens proud of their city.
The Solingen CDU aims to implement a "politics of progress," focusing on maintaining jobs and promoting innovations, pursuing a solid financial policy, and ensuring job security. To address the city's challenges, Flemm plans to initiate immediate structural economic planning for Solingen's economic location.
One of the key areas Flemm plans to focus on is the Open Extended Day (OGS) and kindergarten spaces. Currently, about 500 places are missing in the OGS area, and the CDU plans to create 250 new places as a first step. Flemm emphasizes the need for prioritizing the expansion of these spaces post-local election.
To support families in Solingen, Flemm proposes introducing flexible place models in the OGS area. The CDU also plans to expand OGS and Kindergarten (Kita) spaces.
Safety is another priority for the Solingen CDU. Flemm intends to review "dual structures" in the administration, specifically in relation to the Solingen City Development Company (SEG) and the Economic Development of Solingen. The CDU plans to make the administration more efficient and digitalized, with a focus on internal security, disaster protection, and healthcare.
The Solingen CDU also aims to promote a vibrant city society through targeted support in areas such as integration, club work, and volunteering. To improve traffic infrastructure, the CDU plans to better manage commuter traffic and optimize public transportation.
Moreover, the CDU wants to focus on high-quality education and childcare by improving schools, educational offerings, and childcare. They plan to make a new cluster-oriented concept for the North and South City a top priority, with a particular focus on the themes of internal security and quality of stay.
Sebastian Haug, chairman of the CDU in Solingen, stated that Solingen needs a political fresh start. Flemm's election campaign emphasizes the need for immediate action, including a significant reduction in costs for personal marketing, bloated staff positions, and expensive reports.
All individual measures in the Solingen city center should be immediately evaluated, according to Flemm. The CDU also wants to focus on the association and federation structure to ensure a safer and more prosperous future for Solingen's citizens.
Flemm, in his mayoral campaign, has presented a policy-and-legislation focus that includes implementing a "politics of progress," promoting job security, and fostering innovations. In relation to the city's Open Extended Day (OGS) and kindergarten spaces, he aims to create 250 new places and prioritize expanding these facilities post-election.
The Solingen CDU, under Flemm's leadership, also emphasizes general-news topics such as safety, improving traffic infrastructure, promoting a vibrant city society, and focusing on high-quality education and childcare. They plan to digitalize the administration, optimize public transportation, and make the North and South City a top priority with a cluster-oriented concept.
