CDS-PP's Marginal Role in Portugal's 2021 Local Elections

The CDS-PP (Centro Democrático e Social – Partido Popular) participated in Portugal's last local elections on 26 September 2021, not in October 2022 as previously stated. The party, which has seen a decline in voter support since 2015, formed alliances in some municipalities, but its role in the political landscape has been marginal. In Sintra, CDS-PP ran allied with PPM and ADN, not with PSD which was allied with IL and PAN.

CDS-PP, advancing with its own lists in many municipalities, evaluated projects on a case-by-case basis. In Sintra, the party aimed to re-elect a councilor, even without being allied with PSD. CDS-PP presented itself as the swing vote, made of predictability and experienced competence. Despite not having specific candidate lists or names of leading candidates for Sintra's 2022 elections, CDS-PP's objective was clear: to maintain a presence in the local political scene.

For accurate and up-to-date information about CDS-PP's candidates and alliances in Sintra's 2022 local elections, it is recommended to contact the CDS-PP headquarters in Lisbon or the Sintra city administration. The party's website, Sintra's city archive, or a query to the local government may also provide concrete details.
