Cathedral Choir delivers a musical performance
On August 15th, 2023, the Domferienchor in Eichstätt will take centre stage at the Eichstätt Cathedral for a special service. The choir, known for their performances of sacred and classical choral music, will perform Hans Leo Hassler's Missa Secunda during the service.
In addition to the Missa Secunda, the choir will also perform other musical pieces, although the specific works for this concert have not been fully disclosed. For those seeking more detailed information about the full program, it is recommended to check the Eichstätt Cathedral's official event announcements or contact the Domferienchor or the local church directly.
The service will also feature a performance of the organ sonata, Tonus peregrinus by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger. Domorganist Martin Bernreuther will play the first movement from this sonata during the service.
Interestingly, the organ sonata is inspired by the "Magnificat", and the performance of "Ave Maria" by Tomás Luis de Victoria, another piece in the service's repertoire, shares a similar inspirational source.
The service's musical direction is under the leadership of Domkapellmeister Manfred Faig, ensuring a performance of the highest quality. The exact duration of the service is not specified, but it promises to be a significant event in the musical calendar of Eichstätt.
