A Rough Season for Reus and LA Galaxy in MLS
Booze Cruise, err, Galaxy Struggling Big Time
Catastrophic loss for Messi, disastrous outing for Reus.
Most champions have a hangover after their title win, but the LA Galaxy is going through something far more severe. The boys in blue are on a nightmare run in the Major League Soccer, courtesy of Marco Reus and Co.
In a rematch of last year's final, former Bundesliga player Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Emil Forsberg, also a former Bundesliga star, shone as the New York Red Bulls thrashed the LA Galaxy 0:7 (0:3) - the worst defeat in the team's history. Yes, you read that right! The reigning champs are yet to secure their first win this season, with their last victory a 2:1 final win over New York Red Bulls in December 2024.
It Ain't Easy Being Cheesy
Former Germany international Reus got the boot in the 64th minute with the score at 0:4. With only three draws and nine losses, the Galaxy finds itself at the bottom of the MLS table.
According to coach Greg Vanney, it was "a terrible game. We were shit from start to finish." They'll need to sort things out soon if they aim to reach their objectives, and sticking together as a team could be the key.
Meanwhile, even Lionel Messi and football-stricken Inter Miami are grappling with challenges. In a 1:4 loss to Minnesota United, Messi endured his worst MLS defeat. Still, the Argentine maestro managed to score his fifth season goal early in the second half, and despite the setback, Inter Miami remains fourth in the Eastern Conference.
