Catastrophic flood results in six fatalities in Bali

In recent days, heavy rain and flooding have caused devastation in various regions worldwide. Two nations significantly affected are India and Indonesia.

In Uttarakhand, India, the village of Dharauli was severely impacted by a flood on August 5. The disaster was triggered by heavy rain in the Khir Ganga river basin, resulting in at least four fatalities. The village was almost entirely destroyed, with houses, guesthouses, small hotels, and restaurants being swept away. Around 85 people were evacuated, but the extent of the damage is still being assessed.

Similarly, heavy rain has led to flooding in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province. The exact cause of the floods is unknown, but four lives have been lost due to the heavy rains. The search and rescue agency has confirmed the deaths and floods in the region.

Elsewhere in Indonesia, the city of Denpasar on the island of Bali has been affected by continuous heavy rain from September 9 to 10. Consequently, two buildings collapsed, causing four fatalities. Major roads in the city's capital have been closed, and access to the island's international airport is restricted. Around 200 rescuers have been deployed to Denpasar to assist with search and rescue efforts.

Despite these tragedies, local communities and emergency services are working diligently to aid those affected by the floods and heavy rain. It serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness for such events and the resilience of communities in overcoming adversity.
