Feels like we just watched the Formula 1 race in Shanghai and now, it's chaos! Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time champ, Charles Leclerc, and Pierre Gasly have seen their finishes flipped due to some serious technical glitches.

You might be saying, "Hammertime, what's the deal?" Well, ol' Hammerhead lost his sixth spot for rocking a Ferrari with too much wear on the ol' floorboards. Seemed alright during the Saturday sprint race, but the floor wore down to disqualification-worthy levels post-race. Bummer, right?

As for Leclerc, the young Monacan speedster lost his fifth place for an even sillier reason. His Ferrari was found to weigh in at...gasp!...799 kilograms, 1 kilogram shy of the minimum 800 kilogram weight requirement. Talk about falling short! The race stewards are adamant that their measurements were accurate, and the team confirmed it was a whoopsie on their part.

Pierre Gasly of AlphaTauri faced the same fate for the same offence. His car also had theserial killer Scale's cold hand on it, weighing in at 799 kilograms. This pushed up the drivers behind him in the race, giving them a nice little boost.

So, who took the win with all this chaos? None other than Oscar Piastri from McLaren, who nabbed the top spot, followed closely by his teammate Lando Norris securing a fiery 1-2 finish for their crew. George Russell from Mercedes and Max Verstappen from Red Bull Racing completed the top four.

Oh, and did you know...

  • Charles Leclerc's disqualification is akin to a cat trying to hang from a slightly loose noose. His car initially weighed exactly 800 kilograms, but after adding a spare front wing (to replace a shattered one) and draining the required fuel, the car slid down to 799 kilograms, As you can guess, that's below the allowable minimum weight limit[1][2][3].
  • Pierre Gasly found himself in a similar predicament with his Alpine car, which initially weighed 800 kilograms but was found to be underweight after the fuel mass check[2][3][5].
  • Lewis Hamilton's disqualification came about due to concerns regarding his Ferrari's rear skid plank. The plank showed excessive wear with measurements falling below the minimum thickness required by the regs[1][2][4].

Each driver's disqualification stemmed from distinct breaches of the FIA Formula 1 Technical Regulations: Article 4.1 for weight infringements affecting Leclerc and Gasly, and Article 3.5.9 for the skid plank wear affecting Hamilton[2][3][4].

  • Despite Lewis Hamilton's impressive performance in the Formula One race, his seventh-place finish was disqualified due to excess wear on his Ferrari's floorboards.
  • Charles Leclerc's fifth-place finish was also revoked as his Ferrari was found to be 1 kilogram under the minimum 800-kilogram weight requirement.
  • Pierre Gasly, racing for AlphaTauri, faced the same fate as Leclerc, with his car also weighing 799 kilograms, below the required minimum weight.
