Casualty reported following Israeli airstrike
🚀🇱🇧🔥 Latest Breaking News: 🇮🇱💣
In a surprising turn of events, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced the death of an individual in a fresh Israeli strike at Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa, Lebanon, today. This grim incident took place despite the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, that ended over a year-long conflict.
The unfortunate incident was a targeted attack on a motorcycle, which led to one fatality. Israel, however, remains silent on this matter. Despite the ceasefire, Israel persists in bombing Lebanon. This ceasefire was intended to bring peace following two months of intense open warfare with Hezbollah on November 27, 2024.
According to the ceasefire terms, Hezbollah fighters were supposed to pull back north of the Litani River, roughly 30 kilometers from the Israeli border, and dismantle their military installations south of that line. Israel was also expected to fully withdraw from Lebanon, but it has retained five strategic positions along the border.
Last week, Israel declared its intent to continue carrying out strikes in Lebanon until Hezbollah is completely disarmed. This ongoing violence continues to fuel tensions and raise concerns on the Lebanese-Israeli border.
Background Insights:
The continued Israeli strikes on Lebanon stem from ongoing tensions and military confrontations, mainly in response to perceived threats from Hezbollah. Here is a brief overview of the recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon:
- June 2–8: Israeli drones struck Ayta Ash Shaab and Ramyeh in Nabatieh Governorate. Gunfire was directed toward Shebaa in Hasbaya District. Israeli troops targeted Ayta Ash Shaab from Shtula positions. In these operations, one Hezbollah-linked individual was killed, and at least six unidentified people were wounded.
- June 5: Israeli airstrikes targeted the Dahiyeh district in Beirut, causing casualties. The strike also triggered international condemnation.
- June 14: A recent airstrike in Beit Lif in southern Lebanon injured seven people.
Israel claims these operations are in response to Hezbollah’s ongoing threats, including ceasefire violations and the presence of unauthorized military infrastructure in southern Lebanon. Despite international pressure, Israel maintains that its actions are necessary to ensure its northern border security, citing the risk of Hezbollah infiltration and attacks.
