Cash reward for community gathering spot in Hasborn - Government endorses unpaid labor initiative

State Secretary Sebastian Thul visited the picturesque town of Hasborn, Germany, on Wednesday, where he presented a grant of 10,000 euros for the construction of a multi-generational community center. The funding comes from the LEADER program, an EU initiative aimed at supporting rural development projects that strengthen local communities.

Thul emphasized the importance of improving infrastructure in rural areas and promoting vibrant town centers. He praised the voluntary commitment and creativity of the Hasborn-Dautweiler residents, expressing his delight at supporting a place for 'sprooche' – presumably a community gathering or exchange space.

The new facility, a Calisthenics field, has been developed and expanded since 2019 on a voluntary basis. It is being built near the "Waldstadion" Hasborn and utilizes its existing infrastructure. The total eligible expenses for the project are 22,418.25 euros, with the remaining 12,418.25 euros to be covered mainly by donations.

The funds are part of the ministry's funding program for the environment, climate, mobility, agriculture, and consumer protection. The ministry's funding program for rural development offers further opportunities for funding. For more information on these opportunities, please visit the ministry's website.

The new community center will complement existing facilities in Hasborn, which include a boules court and an artificial turf sports field. This demonstrates a strong community spirit in the town, with residents working together to create a vibrant and active environment for all ages.

Thul presented a grant award of 10,000 euros to the association's support group during his visit. The Calisthenics field is a physical exercise area using one's own body weight, providing a valuable addition to the town's sporting facilities. The State Secretary's visit and grant award are a testament to the ministry's commitment to supporting rural development and strengthening local communities.
