Riding and Driving Tournaments at Rheurdt's Reit- und Fahrverein
Get ready for a thrilling ride as the Reit- und Fahrverein (RuFv) Rheurdt brings two back-to-back driving tournaments to their grounds on June 22-25, thanks to the Corpus Christi holiday on the 19th. Although Friday might be a bit hectic, the organizing team is unsure if it'll remain free as planned.
Kickstarting the weekend is a combined driving event on four horse legs. From beginner level all the way up to class A, it features dressage, jumping, and cross-country courses packed with natural obstacles. You'll also find qualifying tests for several esteemed cups, such as the MFA-Cup, Doerner & Doerner-Cup, Schneppenheim-Cup, Weirich-Cup, and a hunter cross-country ride for adult beginners. The competition this year is sure to be fierce, with the district championships and Rhine regional championships taking center stage. Expect one to four horse teams, both pony and larger horse-led, along with a qualification for the World Championships in the para category.
Managing the massive influx of participants is a challenge for the organizing team. With 100 entries in dressage, they anticipate 15 hours of non-stop tests. Yet, 79 teams are also slated to start in the cones. Lucky for us, they have two dressage arenas to handle the crowd on Kirchstraße in Rheurdt.
Whether it's the allure of fewer large driving tournaments or the exceptional quality of the Rheurdt event, the turnout is impressive. In fact, there are no other driving tournaments nearby, with Zülpich and Reichshof being the only other options, quite a distance away. To cater to the masses, the team is hosting a large barbecue on Saturday (15 euros for adults, 10 euros for kids). You can make your reservations by emailing [email protected] using the PayPal keyword "friends." And, of course, there will be coffee and cake too!
The RuFv Rheurdt drivers have already started their season with victories in the Rhine region and Westphalia.
If you're curious about the classes, qualification criteria, or other specifics for these events, we recommend reaching out to the Reit- und Fahrverein Rheurdt directly or checking their official website or social media for updates. Keep in mind that details can change from year to year, so it's best to stay informed. Happy driving!
Be prepared for more than just horseback riding, as sports events such as driving tournaments will also take place at Rheurdt's Reit- und Fahrverein. After the exhilarating horseback competitions, unwind with a barbecue on Saturday, a fun activity for both adults and kids.
