Sainz Jr. initially replaced his father's regular co-driver, Lucas Cruz, for the speedtest. Although the event was not an official team test, Sainz Jr. drove his father's Dakar Rally Ford Raptor T1+, marking his first drive in this racing class. Accompanying him during the test was his father, Carlos Sainz Senior, a four-time Rallye Dakar winner, most recently in 2024. The experienced rally legend provided valuable guidance and support to his son during the test.
