Caribbean resident detained for issuing threatening emails to Zeeshan Siddique
Threatening Emails Lead to Arrest of Suspected Gangster in Mumbai
A 33-year-old daily laborer from Darbhanga, Bihar, named Mohammad Dilshad Mohammad Naushad, was extradited from Trinidad and Tobago to Mumbai and arrested upon arrival at the airport. The arrest was in relation to a series of threatening emails sent to former MLA Zeeshan Siddique.
The emails, sent in April of an unspecified year, warned Siddique not to involve the police and threatened that an incident could happen to him if he did not comply. The sender, claiming affiliation with Dawood Ibrahim's D-Company gang, demanded Rs 10 crore as "protection money," threatening Siddique with a fate similar to his father, Baba Siddique, who was killed in 2024.
The threats, sent between April 19 and 21, 2025, referenced D-Company explicitly and denied the involvement of Lawrence Bishnoi in Baba Siddique’s murder, which raised suspicions about the intent to deceive authorities. Baba Siddique was a former MLA who was shot dead outside his son's office, with multiple arrests and charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) linked to the case.
The sender gave Siddique two days to comply with the demand for money and signed the emails as being from the D-company. The emails also attempted to mislead investigators regarding other criminal groups involved in the case. The sender threatened to harm Siddique's family if the police were involved, and promised to provide a location and time for further communication.
It's important to note that there is no confusion with other individuals named Naushad involved in unrelated criminal cases. The details and locations differ significantly, ensuring that the correct individual was apprehended in this instance.
This arrest serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime in the region and the importance of vigilance in identifying and apprehending those involved in such activities. The investigation is ongoing, and further developments are expected in due course.
