Highfield Festival 2024: A Successful Three-Day Event
The Highfield Festival, held at Lake Störmthal near Leipzig, drew an estimated 28,000 people for its three-day run this year. The event was well-attended, with around 210 staff and three doctors on site to ensure the safety and well-being of the attendees.
The festival was marked by a great atmosphere and peaceful interactions, according to Ruth Lößer from the organizers. The organizers' efforts to promote responsible behavior and health were evident, with reminders to wear headgear and drink enough water, as well as numerous free drinking water stations.
The high temperatures, which reached above 33 degrees during the first two days, posed a challenge but did not dampen the spirits of the festival-goers. Common health issues treated by the rescue services included allergic reactions to wasp stings, heat exhaustion, and circulation problems. Between 1,030 treatments were given by Sunday afternoon.
Last year, a fire on the Ferris wheel occurred at the Highfield Festival, causing 16 injuries. This year, despite the incident, the organizers decided to set up the Ferris wheel once again. However, investigations are ongoing for charges of negligent bodily harm and negligent arson related to the Ferris wheel fire.
The festival's music selection was widely praised by the attendees, with many expressing their satisfaction. The Beach Stage program was expanded this year, offering visitors the opportunity to participate in yoga or aqua fitness between concerts. Around 120 visitors attended the early morning yoga session on the Beach Stage.
One standout performance was by the group Deichkind, which particularly impressed Katja from Bonn. André from Zwickau, who was in a wheelchair, found the "Special Needs" camping area and its facilities to be beneficial for him.
The Highfield Festival concluded at midnight on Sunday, marking the end of another successful event. The organizers have already booked the first bands for next year's Highfield Festival, promising another exciting musical extravaganza.
Construction of new buildings within the community is being planned to accommodate the growing number of attendees at the Highfield Festival, with the expected turnout for next year's event already projected. This festival lifestyle extravaganza offers not only music entertainment, but also general-news updates, sports events, and even health-focused activities such as yoga and aqua fitness. A successful three-day event, the Highfield Festival continues to evolve, striving to improve attendee experiences while maintaining safety standards, even amidst challenges like extreme heat and past incidents like the Ferris wheel fire.
