Macaulay Culkin Regrets Missing Out on Wes Anderson's 'Rushmore'

Macaulay Culkin, known for his iconic roles in films like My Girl, Ritche Rich, and the Home Alone franchise, has expressed regret over missing out on a role in Wes Anderson's comedy/indie classic, Rushmore.

During a recent appearance on the popular show Hot Ones, Culkin discussed a role he regretted not taking in a '90s film. It turns out that the role in question was Max Fischer, the lead character in Rushmore.

Culkin was on a hiatus from acting for about six or seven years during the late 1990s, which was when Rushmore was made. He missed the audition and only saw the script much later when going through old scripts, leading him to express regret that he missed the opportunity to be in the movie.

The lead role eventually went to Jason Schwartzman, one of Wes Anderson’s frequent collaborators. Culkin acknowledged that Schwartzman was perfect for the role of Max Fischer.

In Rushmore, the film follows the life of a studious student at Rushmore Academy who falls for his teacher, Ms Cross. Jason Schwartzman played the role of Max Fischer to critical acclaim.

Culkin referred to the role in Rushmore as "a ball and a biscuit." He also expressed admiration for Schwartzman's performance in the film.

Culkin is the father of two and is still known for his roles in hit films like My Girl, Ritche Rich, and the Home Alone franchise.
