FC Augsburg and Irvin Cardona, a former French club member, have bid their final goodbyes after the permanent transfer of the dynamic striker to AS Saint-Étienne. Cardona, who had been on loan to AS Saint-Étienne since the winter break, is now a permanent member of the club.
Writing in a statement, Augsburg's managing director, Michael Ströll, expressed his gratitude for Cardona's dedication:
Cardona joined Augsburg from Stade Brest in January 2023, but his tenure was temporary, with loans to both AS Saint-Étienne and Espanyol Barcelona in between. Cardona made a total of 13 appearances for Augsburg, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
Expressing his affection for FC Augsburg and its fans, Cardona stated:
Augsburg is set to commence preparations for the upcoming season during the first week of July. New coach Sandro Wagner is expected to bring a fresh, exciting vibe to the club, following the departure of Jess Thorup at the end of the season.
Augsburg ended the season in 12th place, narrowly missing out on a European spot due to a late losing streak.
