Unfortunately, his time at Espanyol Barcelona didn't pan out as hoped and his loan spell got cut short. Back to Saint-Étienne for the second half of the previous season, Cardona scored five goals and provided three assists in 15 appearances, but it still wasn't enough to prevent the immediate relegation.
