According to preliminary police investigations, the incident occurred when a truck driver was carelessly overtaking another vehicle, but failed to spot an automobile in the process. In an attempt to sidestep the truck, a 53-year-old car driver collided with it, ultimately smashing into the central barrier. The impact was so fierce that the truck crashed into a lorry!
The southbound lane had to be shut down for cleanup operations that same evening, as per the police reports[1].
