Captured on film: UAE authorities reveal dashcam footage revealing reckless lane changes resulting in highway collisions
In a bid to promote road safety, the Ajman Police have issued a warning about careless lane changes being a leading cause of traffic accidents in the Emirate. The warning was delivered in a recently released awareness video, which focused on the dangers of abrupt or careless lane changes in videos.
The awareness video demonstrated how sudden lane shifts can trigger serious crashes. It emphasised that such lane changes endanger not only the driver but also passengers and other road users. One simple act of responsibility, the video highlighted, is staying in one's lane.
Major General Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, the head of the Ajman Police, called on drivers to improve their road behaviour. He pointed out that reckless driving behaviour puts lives at risk in Ajman.
The video did not specify whether the crashes were minor or major in severity. However, it did mention an incident where a driver stopping on a busy road nearly caused an accident.
Authorities in Ajman emphasize the importance of responsible driving behaviour to ensure road safety. Driving too close may result in a fine of Dh400 in the UAE, but the awareness video did not mention any specific fines or penalties related to careless lane changes in videos.
The awareness video did not contain any information about other contributing factors to road accidents in Ajman. It is a timely reminder for all drivers to be mindful of their actions and to prioritise safety on the roads.
