Frankfurt's Captain Trapp transfers to Paris - Captain Trapp Relocates to Paris.
Kevin Trapp Bids Farewell to Eintracht Frankfurt for Paris FC
After a successful two-spell tenure at Eintracht Frankfurt, goalkeeper Kevin Trapp has transferred to Paris FC, a newly promoted Ligue 1 club. The move, finalized in August 2025, marks a significant change for both clubs.
Trapp, a club legend who played a total of 383 competitive matches for Eintracht Frankfurt, including 293 in the Bundesliga, achieved 89 clean sheets, and helped the club win the 2022 UEFA Europa League, their first international trophy in 42 years. He also played a crucial role in qualifying Frankfurt for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in history in the 2024/25 season.
However, Trapp's starting position at Eintracht Frankfurt was not secure due to the emergence of Kaua Santos, a 22-year-old Brazilian seen as the future goalkeeper for the club. As a result, the German side may consider signing Michael Zetterer from Werder Bremen as a potential replacement for Trapp.
Sporting director Markus Krösche acknowledged that granting Trapp’s transfer request was natural given his contributions, and emphasized that Trapp remains a part of the club’s identity and will be warmly welcomed back anytime. Frankfurt lost a long-term captain and leader in Trapp, and the club appointed Robin Koch as the new captain after his exit.
Paris FC, on the other hand, gains an experienced international goalkeeper to strengthen their squad. Trapp's fiancée, supermodel Izabel Goulart, resides in Paris, and Trapp speaks fluent French. The transfer fee for Trapp's move to FC Paris was reported around €1 million, and he has signed a contract until 2028.
Meanwhile, Jens Grahl played in goal for Eintracht Frankfurt in the first round of the DFB Cup due to Kaua Santos' knee injury. No information about the transfer fee for Trapp's move to FC Paris was given.
Trapp started his senior career at 1.FC Kaiserslautern, making his debut in 2008. He joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2012 and initially played there for three Bundesliga seasons. He then moved to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for three years before returning to Eintracht Frankfurt in August 2018, where he became captain and a key figure.
Bernard Arnault, a wealthy businessman, is the owner of FC Paris, and Arnault is ambitious and aims to establish FC Paris in Europe. Markus Krösche, the sports director of Eintracht Frankfurt, stated that Trapp's departure was difficult for all involved.
Trapp's departure from Eintracht Frankfurt to Paris FC brings a new chapter in his career, while the German club faces a period of change and adaptation without their veteran goalkeeper.
