Canucks lock in Victor Mancini with two-year contract extension

The Vancouver Canucks have secured defenceman Victor Mancini with a two-year contract extension. The deal carries an average annual value of $1 million, keeping the 22-year-old in the organisation through the 2026-27 season. Mancini, a former fifth-round pick, has steadily developed into a reliable depth option on the blue line.

Mancini was originally selected by the New York Rangers in the fifth round, 159th overall, at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. He made his professional debut with the Rangers before joining the Canucks organisation, where he split time between the NHL and AHL.

This season, Mancini has suited up for 18 games with Vancouver, averaging 13:50 of ice time per contest while recording five penalty minutes. His role has been limited but steady, providing defensive support when called upon. Across his NHL career—spanning 49 games with both the Rangers and Canucks—he has tallied eight points (two goals, six assists) and 15 penalty minutes. In the AHL, Mancini has been a key contributor for the Abbotsford Canucks, appearing in 33 games this season. There, he has registered 12 points (four goals, eight assists), 16 penalty minutes, and a +1 plus/minus rating. His postseason experience is equally notable, with 34 Calder Cup playoff games under his belt, including 11 points (three goals, eight assists) and a championship win in 2024. Over his entire AHL career, he has played 70 regular-season games, posting 28 points (eight goals, 20 assists) and 34 penalty minutes. The extension reflects Vancouver's confidence in Mancini's ability to contribute both at the NHL level and as a leader in the minors. His versatility and playoff pedigree add depth to the Canucks' defensive corps.

The two-year extension ensures Mancini remains part of Vancouver's defensive plans. His experience in both the NHL and AHL, combined with his championship-winning background, strengthens the team's blue-line options. The Canucks will rely on his continued development as they push for future success.
