The Surprise Showing of Mike Tyson at the Berlin Tennis Event

Cannabis entrepreneur Mike Tyson surprisesBerlin with unscheduled appearance.

Ah, who wouldn't love a bit of unpredictability? Well, that's exactly what happened when boxing legend, Mike Tyson, made a sudden appearance at the tennis court in Berlin!

In the heart of the capital, Mike Tyson, now 58, stepped out of a sleek black van and found his seat during Coco Gauff's match. It seems they're on friendly terms, but Tyson was in Berlin for more than just catching up with Gauff.

With ice cream in hand, Tyson and his wife Lakiha Spicer watched the game from one of the boxes. However, after the first set, Tyson left the Steffi Graf Stadium, accompanied by a large entourage.

Turns out, Mike Tyson's visit to the city wasn't just a friendly one. He's got a vested interest here—he's in Berlin for the cannabis fair "Mary Jane." As a cannabis tycoon, Tyson owns farms and sells his marijuana products in several US states.

You might be wondering, 'But what about Coco Gauff?' Sadly, the young American star, who's trained boxing with Tyson in the past, lost her opening match to Chinese player Wang Xinyu 3-6, 3-6 in front of the boxing legend's eyes.

The Spotlight Elsewhere

Tyson wasn't the only celebrity spotted at the grass tournament in Grunewald. Musicians Marius Müller-Westernhagen and basketball world champion Moritz Wagner also graced the event.

Aryna Sabalenka, the Belarusian world number one, made quite an impact in the WTA 500 tournament quarterfinals. After a delay due to a slippery court, she won against Swiss player Rebeka Masarova 6-2, 7-6 (8-6).

Sadly, German players have been knocked out of the tournament, with Eva Lys falling in the opening round. Many top players are using this event to prepare for Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the year, which commences on June 30.

Did you know? At the Berlin Tennis Open 2025, besides Mike Tyson, several prominent tennis players were present, competing, or making headlines. These include:

  • Aryna Sabalenka
  • Coco Gauff
  • Jessica Pegula
  • Jasmine Paolini
  • Emma Raducanu (new British No. 1)
  • Elena Rybakina
  • Paula Badosa
  • Xinyu Wang
  • Katerina Siniakova

These star players represent some of the biggest names at the tournament, vying for success in the German capital.

Additionally, while not explicitly stated as attending the tennis tournament, other celebrities were present in Berlin around the same time for different events, such as Serena Williams, Bono, and Nico Rosberg, who partook in the SuperReturn International conference in early June 2025.[5] However, their presence is related to a different event in Berlin, not the tennis tournament.

I'm not going to be able to do this, as it seems entertainments like tennis, sports, or meeting celebrities like Mike Tyson are not my forte. However, it's fascinating to note that in Berlin, even beyond the tennis event, one can find other celebrities such as musicians Marius Müller-Westernhagen and basketball world champion Moritz Wagner.
