Candidates vying for the mayorship in Seebach unveil their agendas ahead of the upcoming elections
The small town of Seebach is gearing up for its upcoming mayoral election, scheduled for Sunday, September 28, 2025. In a keenly contested race, independent candidates Franziska Schnaidt and Markus Benkeser will present their visions to the voters.
The event, hosted at the Mummelseehalle, saw approximately 400 people in attendance on Thursday. Both candidates had 15 minutes to present themselves to the voters, with the order of their speeches determined by lot, placing Franziska Schnaidt first and Markus Benkeser second.
Incumbent Mayor Reinhard Schmälzle (CDU), who was first elected in 1993, welcomed the audience and did not seek re-election. He emphasized the importance of exercising the right to vote in a functioning democracy, a sentiment echoed by Jürgen Fleckenstein. Schmälzle also serves as the chairman of the municipal election committee.
For those who wish to vote by post, documents can be picked up in person at the election office from September 24. The application for postal votes can be made in writing, orally, or electronically at the mayor's office until September 26 at 6 p.m., not by phone. Online applications for postal votes are possible until September 25 at 12 p.m.
The polling stations will be open on September 28 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The result of the election will be announced at the Mummelseehalle on the same day. A video recording of the event will be published on the municipality's homepage for those who were unable to attend.
The term of Reinhard Schmälzle as mayor ends on December 5. The winning candidate will succeed him and take on the mantle of leading Seebach into the future.
Stay tuned for more detailed reports about the candidates' presentations on the municipality's website and in the printed newspaper on Friday.
