Candace Parker Signs New Contract with TNT Sports, to Dedicate Herself Exclusively to College Basketball, Remaining Unmatched in the Network's Basketball Coverage
Candace Parker Extends Deal with TNT Sports, Expands Role
Candace Parker, the two-time NCAA champion and four-time WNBA MVP, has signed a multi-year extension with TNT Sports. The deal will see Parker take on a more significant role, including game analyst duties for TNT's coverage of Big East men's and women's basketball, as well as Big 12 men's basketball.
Parker, who originally joined TNT Sports in 2019 as an NBA analyst and commentator, has been a staple of the network for several years. She will continue as a prominent analyst during the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and remain the lead studio analyst for Unrivaled, the 3-on-3 women's basketball league launched by TNT.
The expansion of Parker's responsibilities focuses on multiple college basketball properties, including Big East, Big 12, and March Madness. However, she will no longer cover NBA games on TNT due to the network losing NBA broadcast rights.
Parker, who led the University of Tennessee to consecutive NCAA championships in 2007 and 2008, is eager to develop new skills in the world of sportscasting, including hosting. She is excited about lending insight into both college basketball and the Unrivaled league.
In addition to her work at TNT, Parker continues as a lead studio analyst for the NCAA championship, jointly broadcast with CBS. She is also a contributor to Bleacher Report and B/R W coverage.
Parker's impressive analysis on "The NBA on TNT" and other shows has not gone unnoticed. Off the court, she is part of the NWSL's Angel City FC ownership group and has helped the Los Angeles Sparks win WNBA Championships in 2016, 2021, and 2023. She joined the Sparks in 2008 and won MVP and Rookie of the Year honors in the same season.
Parker describes TNT's environment as "kind of like a family." With this new deal, she will focus on a broader set of properties at TNT Sports. The NBA rights are leaving Warner Bros. Discovery after decades for new use under Amazon's Prime Video and NBCUniversal.
Parker's illustrious career includes seven All-Star team elections, two Olympic gold medals with Team USA Women's Basketball (2008 and 2012), and numerous individual awards. Her passion for the game and her ability to break down complex strategies have made her a favourite among fans.
