The image shows a man and woman standing next to each other on a stage, with the woman holding a bottle in her hand. In the background there is a wall, and at the bottom of the image there is text. The man appears to be a dramatist, as he is wearing a suit and has a serious expression on his face.

Canal+ and Sky unite to co-produce premium English-language dramas

Canal+ and Sky have joined forces in a new strategic partnership to co-produce premium English-language scripted dramas. The deal will see both companies collaborate on at least two projects each year for the next three years, with work set to begin in the coming months.

The partnership aims to co-finance and co-commission high-end dramas, drawing on the expertise of Studiocanal and independent producers. Both Canal+ and Sky will work together on greenlit productions, focusing on supporting established and emerging creative talent in the UK and beyond.

The alliance seeks to expand the international reach of UK-led stories with global appeal. By combining their resources, the companies plan to strengthen distribution across Europe and other key markets.

Dana Strong, group CEO of Sky, emphasised the strong working relationship between the two firms and their shared history in producing premium drama. Meanwhile, Maxime Saada, CEO of Canal+, described the collaboration as rooted in a shared storytelling vision and a drive to develop globally successful content and intellectual property.

This agreement marks a deeper collaboration between Canal+ and Sky, reinforcing their commitment to boosting original productions and building stronger global IP. The first wave of projects under the partnership is expected to launch in the near future, with a focus on high-quality, internationally appealing dramas.
