Canadiens honor Indigenous cultures in tonight's clash with Islanders

The Montreal Canadiens are set to face the New York Islanders tonight at the Bell Centre. As part of the evening, the team will celebrate Quebec's Indigenous cultures in a special tribute. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET, with fans encouraged to arrive early for Molson FANatic Saturdays festivities.

Earlier in the day, the Canadiens took to the ice for their morning skate. Players including Patrik Laine, Arber Xhekaj, and goaltender Samuel Montembeault joined the session. The team worked through line combinations and defensive pairings in preparation for the match.

The Bell Centre has long been a packed venue for Canadiens games. Last season, the arena averaged 21,105 spectators per home game—just shy of its 21,302 capacity. All 41 home matches in 2022/23 came close to selling out, reflecting the team's strong local support. Tonight's event also features the return of Molson FANatic Saturdays. The initiative offers fans extra entertainment and activities before the game begins.

The Canadiens will take the ice against the Islanders with a focus on both performance and cultural recognition. Indigenous traditions will be highlighted throughout the evening, adding significance to the match. Fans can expect a lively atmosphere as the team continues its season at home.
